The World Health Organization (WHO) convened the first World Health Assembly in 1948, which called for the establishment of a “World Health Day.”
The first World Health Day was held on April 7, 1950, and it has been observed on that date every year thereafter.
The main goal of the day is to raise awareness about a certain health topic in order to highlight a World Health Organization priority area of concern.

The theme for World Health Day 2022 is ‘Our Planet, Our Health’.
- This year’s theme aims to direct global attention toward the well-being of our planet and the humans living in it.

Articles 39, 41, 42 and 47 in the Directive Principles of State Policy (DPSP)contain provisions regarding Health.
Article 21 provides for the right to life and personal liberty and is a fundamental right.

World Health Day is one of eight official global health campaigns marked by WHO.
- Which include World Tuberculosis Day, World Immunization Week, World Malaria Day, World No Tobacco Day, World AIDS Day, World Blood Donor Day, and World Hepatitis Day.
On World Health day WHO organizes international, regional and local events related to a particular theme.
It primarily focuses on universal health coverage by fixing medical infrastructure.

The WHO was established on 7 April 1948, which is commemorated as World Health Day.
It is headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland, with six semi-autonomous regional offices and 150 field offices worldwide.
The WHO is a specialised agency of the United Nations responsible for international public health.
The WHO Constitution, which establishes the agency’s governing structure and principles, states its main objective as ensuring “the attainment by all peoples of the highest possible level of health.”
