The National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) has released the Annual Crime in India Report – 2019.

7% increase in crime against Schedule Castes (SCs) and 26 % increase in Crime against Schedule Tribes (ST) in 2019 as compared to 2018.
Highest number of crimes against SCs registered in Uttar Pradesh followed by Rajasthan and Bihar.
Highest number of crimes against STs registered in Madhya Pradesh followed by Rajasthan and Odisha
Crimes against women registered a 7.3% increase.
Majority of cases under crime against women under IPC were registered under ‘cruelty by husband or his relatives’ (30.9%)
Highest number of incidents of rape of tribal women registered in Madhya Pradesh.
Highest number of incidents of rape of SC women registered in Rajasthan followed by Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh.
Cybercrimes: increased by 63.5 % in 2019. The maximum case registered were of fraud (60.4%), followed by motive of sexual exploitation (5.1%).
NCRB act as a repository of information on crime and criminals.
It was recommendation of the Tandon Committee, National Police Commission (1977-1981) and the Task Force of the Ministry of Home Affairs

NCRB brings out three annual reports i.e. Crime in India, Accidental Deaths & Suicides in India and Prison Statistics India.
