Recently, as part of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav, a total of 152 Centre for Financial Literacy & Service Delivery (SAKSHAM Centres) across 77 districts of 13 states were launched.
Key-Points
- The centers were launched under the Deen Dayal Antyodaya Yojana - National Rural Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NRLM) of the Department of Rural Development.
- The SAKSHAM Center for Financial Literacy & Service Delivery (CFL & SD) will serve as a single solution / single window system for the basic financial needs of Self-Help Groups (SHGs) families in rural areas.
- The center aims to provide financial information and facilitate the delivery of financial services (savings, credit, insurance, pensions, etc.) to SHG members and the rural poor.
- SHG network, especially at Cluster Level Federations (CLFs), with the help of Community Resource Persons (CRPs).
SAKSHAM Application
Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana - National Rural Livelihood Mission
- It is a centralized program, launched by the Department of Rural Development in June 2011.
- It aims to eradicate rural poverty by promoting more livelihoods and improved access to financial services for the poorest rural households across the country.
- It involves working with community institutions through community professionals in the spirit of self-help which is a unique proposition of DAY-NRLM.
- It contributes to the well-being of the community as a whole by organizing one female member from each poor rural home into Self Help Groups (SHGs), training and skills building, simplifying their livelihoods, and enabling them to use their livelihood by accessing financial resources in their institutions and banks.
- It is used in the Mission approach with special purpose vehicles (state NGOs) with dedicated support units at national, state, regional and block level, using trained personnel resources to provide ongoing and long-term support for rural poor families.
