The Railways will train 50,000 youths in the age group of 18 to 35 years over the next three years as part of the Rail Kaushal Vikas Yojana.
Key-details of the scheme
- Rail Kaushal Vikas Yojana is a skill development programme for the unemployed youths of India to impart technical training in various trades to enhance their employability and entrepreneurship.
- In the first batch of the programme, 1000 youth will be trained in industry-relevant skills from the railway training Institutes.
- Eligibility: Any Matric passed student between 18-35 years age limit can select and apply for training online as well as offline.
- These youngsters will be trained to be electricians, welders, machinists and fitters.
- The participants will be given 100 hours of training (free of cost) in 75 railway training institutes shortlisted around the world.
- Certificate will be provided after successful completion of training.
Significance of the initiative
- The Rail Kaushal Vikas Yojana (RKVY) will contribute to the mission towards Atmanirbhar Bharat and is also a part of the series of initiatives in the Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav.
- The training will be available even for people in the remotest areas of the country.
