Significance of the Digital Data Solution
- Effective plans for workers: It would effectively help in the smooth formulation of state and national level programs for migrant workers.
- Training of workers: The training manual will help in to train the migrant workers.
- Easy migration flow: A dedicated Migration cell will facilitate and support migrants who come from different States.
- Data availability: It will help in maintaining data regarding the migration flow.
- Awareness generation:Tribal migrant workers often have low awareness about their rights and entitlements and ways to access services and social security in source and destination areas.
What are the challenges faced by migrant workers?
- Data unavailability: The lack of real time data of migrants is the biggest challenge for state and national governments in formulating effective strategies and policy decisions for welfare of migrant workers at both source and destination states.
- Unaccounted threats:Migrants all over the country had to face problems during lockdown due to the pandemic caused by corona virus. This raises concern over any calamity or distress situation.
- Difficult and unsafe conditions: Migration of tribal population is distress-driven and the migrants are exposed to difficult and unsafe conditionsincluding many occupational hazards at the work place.
- Trafficking: Sometimes migrants face trafficking or wages harassment.

- The Unorganised Workers’ Social Security Act, 2008
- The Maternity Benefit Act, 1961
- Minimum Wages Act, 1948
- Equal Remuneration Act, 1976
- Inter-State Migrant Workmen (Regulation of Employment and Conditions of Service) Act, 1979
