The Ministry of Information & Broadcasting has constituted the Animation, Visual Effects, Gaming and Comics (AVGC) Promotion Task Force.

- The formation of an AVGC promotion task team in the Budget 2022.
- AVGC Promotion Task Force is to be headed by Secretary, Ministry of Information & Broadcasting.
- It will have Secretaries of the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship; the Ministry of Education; the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology and the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade.
- The task force will also have widespread participation from Industry partners.
- It will also include State Governments of Karnataka, Maharashtra, and Telangana; heads of education bodies such as AICTE, NCERT and representatives of industry bodies such as FICCI, CII.
- Agenda: The organisation will:
- develop a national AVGC policy
- recommend a national curriculum framework for graduation, post-graduate, and PhD courses in AVGC-related fields
- collaborate with academic institutions, vocational training centres, and industry to assist skilling programmes
Significance of the initiative
- It will increase job possibilities, assist in promotion and market development operations to expand Indian industry’s worldwide reach, increase exports, and recommend incentives to attract foreign direct investment in the sector.
- According to I&B Ministry, the country’s AVGC industry has the potential to be the torchbearer of Create in India and Brand India.
