Faceless Assessment is being rolled out to remove the human interface between the taxpayer and the Income Tax (I-T) Department.
- The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) has sought the inclusion of tourism in the concurrent list to enable the Centre and States to effectively regulate the sector as well as frame policies for growth.
About the Lists:
- The Seventh Schedule has three lists:
- While the Centre can make laws on subjects specified in the Union list, the state governments have jurisdiction over items in the state list.
- Both the Centre and states can make laws for subjects in the concurrent list, but the Union’s law will prevail in case of conflict.
The Concurrent List
- The Concurrent List or List-III (Seventh Schedule) is a list of 52 items (though the last subjects is numbered 47) given in the Seventh Schedule to the Constitution of India.
- It includes the power to be considered by both the union and state government.

The current status
- The Travel & Tourism sector does not figure in any of the lists currently.
- The Indian tourism industry is the seventh-largest in the world and contributes 9.4 per cent to the country's GDP and accounted for 42 lakh jobs (2018), which is 8.2 per cent of total employment.
- In order to effectively regulate the sector and frame policies for growth of the highly employment intensive sector, the sector needed to be included in the Concurrent list of the constitution.
